Queen Elizabeth II may be one of the most influential women alive. But at the end of the day, she’s just like any other grandmother who’s proud of her grandchildren. Proof of this is the rather sweet and adorable photographs she chose to frame in her home.
Official Visit
The interest about the Queen’s tabletop decor was recently sparked when photos from Boris Johnson’s visit at the Palace began circulating. The 55-year-old new prime minister reportedly met with the monarch after he officially took over Theresa May‘s position following her resignation.
According to People, the Queen even delayed her trip to her favorite home, Balmoral Castle, in Scotland to meet with the new prime minister. Johnson is said to be the 14th prime minister to serve during the reign of Her Majesty which began in 1952.
While the focus of the meeting was to welcome the country’s new leader, some publications couldn’t help but notice the Queen’s tabletop frames.
Photo Display
Zooming in on photos of the affair, it can be observed that Queen Elizabeth has many photographs of her grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, framed and displayed in the room.
One of them is a full-body portrait of the brothers proudly wearing their respective military uniforms. It can be remembered that Prince William served in various positions in the military from 2005 to 2013 while his younger brother Prince Harry was a captain from 2005 to 2015. The latter even served in Afghanistan. And it’s safe to assume that their grandma is quite proud of them for doing so.
But what’s even more interesting is that the Queen also included pictures of her grandsons’ wives on her photo display. Just behind a chair are portraits of Prince William with his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge as well as of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
Both photos featuring the young royal couples are believed to have been taken around the time of their respective engagements. Prince William and Middleton announced their engagement back in 2010 and married the following year. Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle got engaged in 2017 and married last year.
Queen of Grandmas
This new display of affection for her grandkids comes closely after a video of the Queen and a young Prince William began garnering attention. The aforementioned video clip is said to have been taken during the wedding of the Queen’s youngest son Prince Andrew to Sarah Ferguson back in the 80s.
It shows Her Majesty running after a rather active four-year-old Prince William, who was running after the carriage that his newlywed uncle was riding on. The Queen, then just about 60 years old, can be seen wearing a bright purple dress for the occasion as she prevents her grandson from getting caught in the carriage wheels.
