Actress and former model Liv Tyler has been in the spotlight for more than two decades now but still manage to look like she only aged a few years since her debut. This is thanks in part to her signature effortlessly beautiful makeup style.
But behind the scenes, she finally reveals that looking that effortless actually requires a lot of effort…and beauty products.
The Price of Beauty
If you’re a fan of Vogue, then you’re probably familiar with the magazine’s ongoing video series where they show celebrities and models going about their beauty routines. Tyler is one of the latest ones to be featured.
In a 16-minute long video published on Vogue’s Youtube channel, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ star shared each one of the 28 products she uses to achieve her no-makeup makeup look. In total, all of her secret weapons amount to just a little over $1,700, according to calculations by Page Six Style.
The Secret to Beautiful Skin
The 42-year-old actress and mother of three’s entire routine can be divided into two: skincare and makeup.
In the video, she begins her beauty routine with an extensive skincare regimen. While she pretty much goes through every step of a regular skin routine, Tyler said that she believes that exfoliation is the secret behind beautiful skin.
For this, she uses the Astara Blue Flame Purification Mask. Still, she also said that drinking green juice, getting enough sleep and hydrating with water are important to keep the skin glowing.
Judging from what she showed to Vogue, Tyler uses at least nine products for her skincare regimen. The most expensive of which is the Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum which retails for $300. Meanwhile, the cheapest product in the first part of her routine is the Chidoriya Hydrating Facial Soap which retails for just $16.99.
In the end, Tyler admitted that skincare is actually her entire life’s passion and secret obsession. She even revealed that she would have probably become a facialist had she not gotten into acting.
The Makeup Routine
Tyler only uses a CC cream for her face so it seems like her skincare obsession is paying off. For the rest of her redness and imperfections, the actress uses two kinds of concealers: the Laura Mercier concealer and the Rodial Diamond Liquid Concealer.
She also uses a couple of Givenchy products in her makeup routine. Not surprising, given her longtime working relationship with the brand. And despite having a knack for luxury products, it looks like Tyler also enjoys some affordable beauty community favorites such as Glossier products like the Boy Brow and the Generation G lipstick.
