Looking at triple threat performer Jennifer Lopez, you’d never think that she’s just a month shy away from her 50th birthday. Breaking out in Hollywood with her performance in ‘Selena‘ back in the 90s, it seems like Jenny from the Block has only aged a few years since.
Fortunately, Lopez is generous when it comes to sharing her beauty secrets. Over the years, the 49-year-old entertainer has dropped plenty of tips on looking young in various interviews. Here’s everything we know so far:
Her Beauty ‘Secrets’
The Grammy-nominated singer has tried quite a lot of extreme diets before, mostly due to different movie roles’ requirements, but she likes to constantly challenge herself with lifestyle changes as well.
For example, she and fiance Alex Rodriguez decided to cut sugar and carbs out of their diet for 10 days earlier this year. The challenge came from her trainer, who was also helping her prepare for a movie role where she plays a dancer.
Shedding light on her regular diet though, Lopez said that she usually drinks lots of water and eats fresh vegetables and fruits. All these, as she revealed to People magazine in 2016, contribute to the quality of her skin and overall wellbeing.
In a different interview, this time with InStyle, the star admitted that her work out habit is one of the things that keeps her skin healthy as well.
Good Genes?
Aside from her lifestyle, Lopez also attributes her youthful looks to ‘good genes’ which blessed her with beautiful skin. She was born to Puerto Rican parents, Guadalupe and David, who were then living in New York City’s The Bronx borough.
A simple look at Lopez’ mother seems to prove this claim with both of them appearing to be years younger than their actual age. According to the star, her grandmother also had the same beautiful skin she’s fortunate to have inherited.
However, J Lo doesn’t hide the fact that she still uses a couple of high-end skincare products to keep her skin in top shape. Some of the contents of her beauty counter include products like Lancer’s Eye Contour Lifting Cream, Dr. Hauschka’s Rose Day Cream, and Crème de la Mer, as revealed by Lopez and her makeup artist Scott Barnes.
Sun Safety and Sleep
While J Lo gets a little boost from high-end skincare products, she still follows the basic rules of taking care of one’s skin: avoiding the sun and getting enough beauty sleep.
Taking sun damage seriously, the star says that she uses a moisturizer which also has SPF protection. What more, she also makes sure to prioritize getting enough beauty rest despite her busy schedule as a mother and celebrity. Ideally, Lopez says she needs around nine to ten hours of sleep per night but would try to get at least eight if the latter scenario isn’t possible.
