Most people may remember actress Jane Lynch from her role as Sue Sylvester in Fox’s hit musical comedy show ‘Glee’. It’s been years since the actress hanged up her signature red tracksuit but still looks quite as fit as she did back then.
In fact, she’s recently just lost 11 pounds from her six-foot-tall frame. All without working out. So, how did she do it?
The Atkins Diet
Apparently, it’s largely thanks to the low-carb Atkins diet. To help people reduce their appetite and remain feeling full longer, the diet advocates for consuming high-protein and high-fat foods.
Sounds familiar? That’s because it follows some similar principles to the keto diet which has become super popular in recent years. The 58-year-old actress says that she’s also tried going Keto before and even lost weight on the diet but didn’t really stay on it for long.
While Lynch has made plenty of healthy dietary changes in the past year, she still eats cheese, a product she loves, every day. She usually snacks on parmesan crisps or cheese slices, especially while busy with filming.
The actress is currently starring in the period comedy show ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ which is now on its third season. Here she plays Sophie Lennon, a successful stand-up comedian who’s really a New York City rich socialite.
Coffee and Meditation
Aside from her improved diet, she also makes sure to meditate every day after drinking her coffee, which she takes first thing in the morning.
She was first trained in the transcendental meditation (TM) method in 1996 but admits that she’s only begun sticking to the habit during the past six or seven months. Lynch also said that she’s been ‘meditating with David Lynch’, who runs his own foundation teaching meditation to children.
Another way she takes care of herself is by religiously moisturizing her skin. Although she doesn’t really have a skincare routine, she makes sure to slather on some Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream every single morning.
Animal Lover
Lynch may not burn calories working out at the gym but she probably works up quite a sweat caring for her adopted dogs. The actress is an admitted animal lover having worked with organizations like Rescue Pets and PETA. She currently has three dogs, Rumi, Bernie, and Millie, living with her.
According to the actress, she loves her job as it allows her to have a platform to advocate for innocent and vulnerable animals which she sees as a part of society as well.
She’s recently partnered up with the Banfield Pet Hospital in raising awareness about the importance of getting pets proper veterinarian counsel for health issues through the Vet Chat™ service. Through this service, pet owners living in the United States and Puerto Rico can talk with a veterinarian 24/7 using the Banfield app.
