When news about Jelena broke out around 2010, die-hard fans rejoiced, thinking the love story between Canadian crooner Justin Bieber and former Disney child star Selena Gomez would last.
It was one of those relationships that made noise and everybody stan, pretty much like Brangelina that we thought would stand the test of time. But like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who shockingly went separate ways a few years ago, Jelena broke up, much to the dismay of fans.
Jelena History
For years, Jelena fans had been watching for signs that their idols finally realized that they were meant for each other and eventually get back together. A silver-lining appeared in 2017 when Selena allegedly broke up with his then-boyfriend The Weeknd amid rumors of a reconciliation with Justin after they were seen hanging out a couple of times.
This was after the “Barney & Friends” alum revealed she had undergone a kidney transplant because of the autoimmune disease lupus.
A few months and a couple of sightings, Jelena was no more again, although it wasn’t even clear if they indeed had reconciled for the nth time.
Since then, a LOT has happened, and by a lot, we meant surprising turn of events that angered most of Jelena fans – Justin once more dated former flame model Hailey Baldwin, who the “Sorry” singer went on to marry last year.
New Man?
But where does that leave Selena? After going in a semi-hiatus (she had not posted much on social media sans for sponsored content), the “Wolves” singer is now obviously not sulking because of her ex’s marriage with his ex (did you catch that?). In fact, she might be getting married soon, but to whom you may ask.
The songstress recently made a red carpet appearance at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival but beside her is another man … Bill Murray, who she stars within the film “The Dead Don’t Die,” a zombie comedy film that’s directed by Jim Jarmusch.
While gracing the event in front of the media, the 68-year-old actor whispered something to Selena, but the cute moment didn’t end there, they became playful on the spot and seemingly played for the camera.
Playing for the Cam
Of course, the paparazzi were there and went wild over the subjects who gamely played an act before them. The photos, as expected, went viral and as a sport that she is, Selena quipped that she was getting married to the comedian, which all the more made a buzz. Obviously the 26-year-old was just teasing so Jelena and Selenators should keep their horses down.
As for what Bill whispered to her, he revealed that it wasn’t as memorable as most of us have suspected because he himself couldn’t remember what he told his costar. What he did recall was that he was trying to keep her calm and relaxed. One adorable takeaway from this, though, was what the “Ghostbusters” actor calls Selena – Gomez.
