As the saying goes, ‘beauty is pain’ and young actress Elle Fanning is proof of it. On a quest to shed her former image as accomplished child star Dakota Fanning’s sister, the 21-year-old ingenue decided to don an ultra tight at the waist designer dress.
The results, to say the least, were a bit disastrous. But was her fainting spell at a dinner during the Cannes Film Festival really just because of a tight dress?
Falling Off the Dinner Table
As you may have already heard, Elle was at the Chopard Trophee dinner with her sister Dakota when she briefly lost consciousness and fell off her seat. She fainted during a speech by Thierry Fremaux the festival’s director.
Fortunately, her sister and their tablemate Colin Firth were quick to act and got her back up on her seat in record time. Another onlooker, French actress Marion Cotillard, checked her heartbeat.
However, the incident didn’t go unnoticed and the ceremony was briefly paused to see if she was alright. In the end, Elle and Dakota were escorted out by security so the actress could get some air and rest.
The young star was there to serve as part of the jury of the prestigious French film festival. Elle has been successfully making a name for herself with her roles in critically-acclaimed films like ‘The Beguiled‘ and ’20th Century Women’ over the past years.
Assuring Fans
As Elle would, later on, explain, the incident was caused by the tightness of the vintage Prada promo dress she was wearing to the event. Although done in an A-line style, the pink designer dress’ upper part was very formfitting and even Elle’s trim figure was just too big for it.
She assured her fans that everything’s alright though even posting a selfie of herself showing in her hotel room. However, one of the hashtags Elle used revealed a little bit more about the incident. Apparently, it was that time of the month for the blonde stunner and that might have contributed to her fainting spell.
Fainting on Red Days
According to medical sources, fainting is a normal occurrence that women may experience during their red days. Particularly painful periods can usually trigger fainting spells as it becomes the body’s response to dysmenorrhea.
Another possible fainting trigger are heavy flow periods. The sudden loss of significant amounts of blood during menstruation can cause anemia which can then lower the amount of oxygen circulating in the body. This can then possibly lead to fainting spells as the brain copes with the decrease in oxygen.
To avoid fainting during that time of the month, doctors recommend women to either eat foods rich in iron or take supplements rich in the mineral.
