Actress Drew Barrymore has been working in the industry since she was a kid literally growing on-screen before movie audiences’ eyes. Perhaps known best for her role as the cute kid Gertie in Steven Spielberg’s 80s classic ‘E.T. the Extraterrestrial‘, it’s hard to believe that Barrymore is now 44 years old. But also contributing to this is her ever-youthful looks.
Fortunately, the former child star and now mother of two is generous with her beauty secrets.
Instant Results
Participating in the #BeautyJunkieWeek on Instagram, the ‘Music and Lyrics’ actress shared the product behind her baby smooth skin. Barrymore raved about the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial in an Instagram video she shared with her almost 12 million followers saying how she instantly got results from using it on her skin.
After complimenting the product’s cute packaging, she then went on about the positive things about it. According to Barrymore, the facial mask has a sort of pigment that’s comparable to that of a tinted moisturizer’s. What more, the product leaves the skin looking like a baby’s after it’s done doing its magic.
According to Prevention, the facial can do this because of the various chemical exfoliants that are on its ingredient list. These group of good-for-the-skin chemicals work on gently removing the layer of dead skin cells on the face to reveal skin that’s smoother and brighter. Dermatologists say that exfoliating is key to skincare routines for aging skin as the process helps in preventing fine lines and wrinkles while also plumping up the skin.
Drew’s Skincare Routine
For the rest of her routine, the actress follows a relatively simple step-by-step. Speaking with Insider, she revealed that she begins with a light cleanser before following it up with a toner. She said that she either uses Noxzema, Sea Breeze or witch hazel for toning. Next, Barrymore applies a brightening serum which she said is a ‘must’. For this step, she mentioned a correcting serum from Skinmedica and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream as products she likes.
Of course, she also prioritizes the protection of her skin from sun damage by using a sunscreen. Although she admits that she found it hard to find a sun protection product that didn’t cause her to break out, she ‘swears by’ Elta MD formulas.
On Aging
While she likes taking care of her skin, Barrymore has a very positive view on aging and even considers it to be a privilege. For her, what matters most is how one can do it with ‘humor, self-love and respect for the process’. This belief has since become more important, according to the actress, as she now has her own daughters and can carry out her beliefs in an even more profound way.
