Like many of his fellow celebs, rapper turned entrepreneur, Dr. Dre is fully-focused in the real estate game. Hey, if you have a couple of million dollars to play with, investing in something that’ll appreciate in value seems, like a smart choice, right?
And it seems like that’s exactly what Dr. Dre believes as well. The 54-years-old man has been known for buying and selling properties every now and then as he grows his real estate portfolio.
Pacific Palisades Abode
His latest purchase is a $2.25 million Mediterranean-style home located in the affluent coastal neighborhood of Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles.
While definitely not as grand as his other properties he’s owned before, the charming two-floor home has plenty of good things going for it. For one, it offers overlooking views of the nearby Pacific Ocean on one side and sweeping views of the mountains from its terrace.
The 3,100 square feet property also comes with a sleek and modern kitchen which features dark oak floors and a quartz-topped kitchen island. The entire home has an airy vibe to it with its sliding glass doors found in a couple of areas in the home.
According to sources, the property was put on the market in May with Dr. Dre sweeping in to buy it at its asking price. Before that, it reportedly last changed owners five years ago when it was sold for $1.585 million.
Given the area its located, the rapper should be able to offload it in the future once its value appreciates more.
Dre’s L.A. Properties
With Los Angeles being home to many of the entertainment industry’s who’s who, it’s not surprising that Dr. Dre has acquired multiple properties in the area as well.
He owns a 20,000 square feet mansion in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood which he actually bought from couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen some years prior. The massive home was once featured on Architectural Digest when it was still in the couple’s possession.
Just last year, he acquired a $4.9 million estate slash studio in the star-studded Calabasas area. The home is located on a four-acre piece of land where outdoor features like a moat, a tennis court, and an infinity pool are sprawled out. Also to be found on the property is an ‘acoustically engineered studio’.
Second Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artist
While he may not have topped Forbes’ richest rappers of 2019 list, his wealth has actually increased since last year. The musician is now worth an estimated $800 million, a jump from his previous net worth of $770 million from the year before.
It can be remembered that Dr. Dre claimed his fortune to have reached the $1 billion mark five years ago with the successful $3 billion sale of his Beats by Dr. Dre line of products to Apple. However, Forbes is still skeptical of the claim saying that the sale only brought in around $500 million to the rapper’s coffers.
