People usually think that celebrities have such an extravagant lifestyle, it may be true in a way because of all the fame and fortune that is shining upon them. Then again, people tend to forget that they are just like everybody else.
They get tired, they get hurt, and so they are not exactly all high and mighty. There are some celebrities who tend to hide it when something happened to them, especially when it comes to their health.
They choose to hide it from the public eye simply because it is not exactly something that involves their career anymore and they are just exercising their rights to privacy despite putting so much of their lives out there.
However, there are also some who share some of their health issues, but only after they have recovered from an illness of some sort. One of the reasons is to be able to inspire their fans who may actually be suffering from the same illness. Just like what singer and actress Selena Gomez did after going through kidney transplant over lupus.
Selena’s Kidney Transplant Journey
It was last summer when Selena Gomez went under a kidney transplant because of having complications from her lupus. It is an autoimmune disease and it has actually damaged her kidney that it had to shut itself down.
It wasn’t actually revealed until Gomez posted about it on Instagram. It turns out that Gomez has been living through the pain for years and that her body has given up on her. It actually got to her not just physically but emotionally and mentally.
The singer had to cancel her tour so she could get admitted to rehab at that time, it was then revealed that she has been suffering from depression and anxiety. One of the main cause of that is how much she had been struggling with her lupus. It wasn’t until last year that she finally had the courage to focus on her health and so something about it. The singer admitted she got scared when she found out it could actually kill her.
Selena’s long-time friend and another actress, Francia Raisa, knew how miserable Selena has been for years, and when she found out she could do something, she didn’t hesitate to get checked. They matched and despite the danger that it might cost her own health, she still went through it.
After the surgery, Selena said that arthritis that she had been suffering from went away and that there is only 3-5 percent chances that her lupus will come back. She had never felt better and is just trying to live as healthy as possible, not just for herself, but for those who had been there for her all along.
De-Stressing and Recovering
It has been almost a year now since she had surgery and after revealing everything about it, she has been trying to keep it low-key since then. Her most recent public appearance was actually in Los Angeles, California, for the premiere of the third installment of the animated film Hotel Transylvania.
This is where the singer bares it all when it comes to trying to live a simple life so far. Gomez said that she considers it as very important to make sure that she is “de-stressing” most especially after what she went through the past yes when it comes to her health.
She said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, that she believes how incredibly important it is for anyone to just focus on positivity. Gomez also added how she is remaining to stay positive by living a healthy lifestyle. In an interview with Good Morning America, the singer also mentioned how she has been definitely trying to avoid the public for a while now since it is just something that she feels like she needs to do.

Being away from the spotlight helped her a lot, but now that she is back, she said that because of how much she was able to take a break from everything, she just feels grateful to get back to work. Gomez even joked about maybe having to work on her actual birthday. Although she didn’t exactly get away because of her recent breakup with singer The Weeknd, as well as her being seen hanging out again with Justin Bieber.
