Celebrities, who choose to share their lives on social media, occasionally get flak from netizens who might not agree with some of the things they do or the opinions they have. And that’s exactly what the singer-songwriter and mother of two Pink is fighting against.
After her fellow mommy and celeb, Jessica Simpson got criticism for letting her daughter get her hair colored, the 39-year-old Grammy Award winner did this in response.
Debuting New Hair
Two days ago, Pink posted a photo of her 8-year-old daughter Willow Sage sporting her freshly-dyed blue hair color. Judging from the photos, the singer herself colored Willow’s hair and shared the fact with her 6.6 million followers as a show of support for Simpson.
She even made a statement by using hashtags like #bluehairdontcare and #getyourownkids to better get her point across.
The post came about two days after Simpson posted her own daughter’s photos on Instagram and got some heat over it. What more, Pink decided to turn off the comments section of the post to prevent internet trolls from expressing their negative comments on the star’s parenting. The post ended up getting more than a million likes.
Mom-Shamed
It can be remembered that Simpson, herself a mother of three children, posted some photos of her 7-year-old daughter, Maxwell ‘Maxi’ Drew sporting dyed hair on her Instagram where the star has 4.7 million followers.
The dye job featured purple and pink tones concentrated on the ends of Maxi’s her giving it a dip dye, ombre effect. Apparently, the young girl took inspiration from ‘Mal’ a character played by the actress Dove Cameron on the popular television film series ‘Descendants‘.
While Maxi and her mom seem quite pleased with the results of their trip to the salon, it appears that some netizens didn’t find the decision agreeable.
They expressed their dismay in the post’s comments section where they asked Simpson why she was ‘ruining’ her daughter’s hair at such a young age. One even went as far as to say that Maxi’s new hair made her look older than she is and that her old color was much better.
Luckily, the duo got some support as well. Aside from Pink, plenty of other netizens complimented the young girl’s hair. The official Descendants account even commented on Simpson’s post and said that Maxi’s hair looked good.
No Stranger to Criticism
Knowing Pink’s experience with netizens who don’t agree with her parenting techniques, the singer’s swift defense of Simpson isn’t too surprising.
It can be remembered that she had her encounter with mommy-shamers on Instagram when she got backlash for posting a photo of her cooking with her children.
In the photo, the singer can be seen holding her son in a carrier while she gets dinner ready. Soon, she was being swarmed by people who think that she put her kid in danger despite the fact that she was seen turning him away from the stove.
