Here’s some good news for avid fans of the hit show ‘Full House’ and its modern reincarnation ‘Fuller House’. You now have the chance of owning the actual Victorian-style Tanner house used in the shows, red door and all. There’s a catch though. It doesn’t quite look the same as audience remembers it.
On the Market
The home’s sale is initiated by ‘Full House’ and ‘Fuller House’ creator himself, Jeff Franklin. The 64-year-old producer bought the property three years ago for $4 million and is now selling it for just under $6 million after renovating it. This is certainly a far cry from the $725,000 the house fetched in 1990 when it was first bought right before San Francisco’s real estate prices shot up.
‘Full House’ premiered on ABC in 1987 and ran for eight seasons until its finale in 1995. It revolves around the story of a widower who enlisted the help of his brother and his best friend to care for his three daughters. The youngest of these daughters is Michelle, who was famously portrayed alternately by the Olsen twins in their breakout role.
Although the home’s facade has become iconic because of its use in the hit shows, filming of scenes set in the house was actually done in Los Angeles where the house’s interiors were recreated on a soundstage.
Different Interiors
This being said, fans of the show may be disappointed to find out that the home’s interiors don’t look the same as they appear on the show. In reality, the 3,700-square-foot home has a modern interior design, despite being built in 1883. And unlike the cozy and colorful kitchen shown on TV, the home actually has a sophisticated kitchen filled with high-end kitchen appliances.
Still, the house has a lot to offer. Despite its narrow-looking exteriors, the home has a spacious and open living space inside. What more, it boasts of having its own wet bar as well as a small English garden in the backyard.
It’s located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco and is only five blocks away from the city’s popular Fillmore Street, known for its assortment of ethnic restaurants, chain stores, and jazz clubs.
End of Fuller House
While Franklin says that the home has emotional significance to him, he’s decided to put it back on the market so a new owner can ‘make it a full house once again’. The sale also coincides with the upcoming end of ‘Fuller House’, a Netflix original series which serves as the sequel to the original show. Its fifth and final season is scheduled to come out in late 2019.
The show premiered in 2016 and featured the same characters and actors with the notable exception of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who did not to return to reprise their shared role as Michelle.
