It may be hard to believe but Oscar Award-winning actress Halle Berry is really already 52 years old. So, how does she keep herself looking so fit and youthful? Well, as she’s revealed in previous interviews, it’s all about sticking to a keto diet and a serious exercise regime.
While she’s used to doing the work to keep herself healthy, Berry had to work extra hard as she trained for her role in the action movie ‘John Wick: Chapter 3‘.
Secrets Revealed
Berry shared her secrets during the last installment of her Instagram Live show with trainer Peter Lee Thomas called #PHIT Talks. She answered everyone’s burning questions about her experience with the Keto diet and meal replacements.
Surprisingly, the actress revealed that she finds cheating on her diet an important part of staying on track. According to Berry, she believes that people should give in to their cravings every once in a while because this can actually make them come back stronger and more determined.
She also said that this mindset, together with taking meal replacements and supplements, helped her get in shape for her training to play the character Sofia in the new action-packed John Wick installment.
Advice for Novices
In the show, Berry recalled how she got started with the keto diet which has been on for years now. While she understands that some people may need more time to get used to this way of eating, the former Bond girl says that she dove right in when she first started.
She advised her viewers to listen to their bodies and monitor their levels in the beginning. This way, they’d know for sure whether the diet is working for them or not and be able to change it to fit their specific needs or lifestyle.
The Keto diet involves eating little to no carbohydrates while upping the intake of fat-rich foods. Gaining a sudden massive following over the past few years, the diet is mostly used by people with type 2 diabetes or for weight loss.
Intense Training
Because of her role as a skilled assassin, the mother of two had to learn jiu-jitsu, handle firearms, and work with dogs. In fact, Berry has said in interviews that training for this film has been the hardest she’s ever had to work in her decades-long career.
And that’s saying a lot. She’s not really a stranger to action movies having starred in films like ‘Catwoman’ and ‘X-Men’ before. The actress also has some background with gymnastics.
It looks her efforts are paying off though with ‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ now being the highest-grossing installment in the successful series. What more, Berry said that she now feels confident in defending herself should a thief attempt to snatch her bag on the streets.
