‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer Celine Dion may be best remembered because of her work as a musician in the 80s and 90s but she’s recently making waves once again thanks to her fashion sense.
And she just proved herself once more after she debuted a bold new haircut on her Instagram.
Cover Look
Last week, the singer shared some photos from a cover shoot she did for a magazine to her 3.5 million followers. The post was composed of three different images all of which feature the star with a bold bowl cut. While it was most likely a wig used for the shoot, it’s undeniable that the 51-year-old Canadian rocked the look. And not surprisingly, netizens were up for it.
Garnering around 107,000 likes, the post also attracted numerous comments from people all over the world complimenting Dion and her hair.
One fan even said that they didn’t recognize the star at first but still seemed to approve of the look. Meanwhile, another one begged Dion to ‘bring back’ the bowl cut style. Also expressing his opinions on the singer’s post is well-known fashion designer Marc Jacobs who called Dion gorgeous.
Dion’s shoot for Harper’s Bazaar is reportedly part of the magazine’s ‘Icons’ issue. Also included on the icons list is comedian Awkwafina, ‘Big Little Lies’ actress Shailene Woodley, singer Alicia Keys, supermodel Christy Turlington, ‘Get Out’ actor Lakeith Stanfield and award-winning actress Regina King.
Back on Trend
While the cut is definitely nowhere near its former mainstream popularity, the bowl cut seems to be slowly making a comeback.
Its presence has already made itself known again on the runway as Fendi notably styled its models with a longer version of the haircut for its AW19 Couture fashion show. Going retro, the brand paid homage to the ‘true Italian style’ as it calls back to 70s fashion, bowl cut included.
Even celebrities like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor Timothee Chalamet and singer-actress Zendaya, who also happens to be Dion’s ‘style crush’, have also given their star approval to the haircut’s return.
While Dion has kept her medium-length locks for now, a new hairdo may not be too farfetched for the star as she just debuted her long bob hairstyle during the Couture Fashion Week in France last April.
Unexpected Fashion Icon
The singer’s current ascension to fashion icon status is largely thanks to the work of her stylist Law Roach. Also responsible for the wardrobes of other celebrities like singer Ariana Grande, Australian actress Ruby Rose and, of course, Zendaya, Roach was reportedly approached by Dion herself.
Since then, the two have collaborated to revamp the star’s style. Recently, she’s been spotted at fashion events rocking a mix of both streetwear and high-end brands such as Off-White, Balenciaga and Alexandre Vauthier.
