The new album by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Everything Is Love, shocked the entire music industry when it was released last month. To the surprise of the fans and the music industry, the music video of one of the album songs was filmed inside the famous Parisian museum – The Louvre.
The married musicians are making history as they are on a run of Paris Museum. The song that was filmed inside the museum has lyrics “we can’t believe we make it to here”, are doing justice to the efforts of married musicians. And the backdrop used by them wasn’t a normal one and they make an impressive and powerful art.
All the famous artworks of Louvre can be seen in the music video and now the museum gallery is showing the art of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, making it as a historic moment in the history of pop culture.
The thematic music trail is 1 hour and 30 minutes long and runs on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. In that video, 17 different types of key artworks are shown. If you ever get a chance to visit the Louvre in your life, a step-by-step trail map is what you need to visit the whole museum. And in the opposite case, below are some of the artworks which are displayed in the video.
Winged Victory of Samothrace
Without head and arms, this is one of the most famous statues in the world. The statue is of Greeks goodies Nike and is astonishingly in good condition as well. In that music video, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were seen standing right in front of one of the most famous statues in the world and that shows the power and symbol of their success.
While giving an interview to TIME, Alexandra Thomas, an art historian said that filming in front of Nike statue can be a reference to the history of death and black with which the singer has dealt in past.
The Coronation of Napoleon
Back in 1804, David was appointed by Napoleon to paint this picture which shows his wife Josephine and coronation. You can relate the interest of Beyoncé while dancing with a bunch of singers in front of the epic painting as she wanted to show the glory and power of women. The singer poses at the exact same place where Napoleon placed the crown on his wife’s head.
Venus de Milo:
The analysis made by Queen Curly Fry, a Twitter user helped a lot to figure out the presence of Venus de Milo in the music video. While explaining, Fry said that at this time Beyoncé is once again trying to act like a Greek statue as she previously did with Nike and this time she did it with Venus de Milo. But this time, the singer posed with wrapped hairs, acting as a goddess and a victorious black woman.
Great Sphinx of Tanis
Great Sphinx of Tanis was discovered in 1825 and easily one of the greatest Sphinxes in Egypt. This is not the first time that Beyoncé and Jay-Z have mentioned Egypt’s ancient history items in their videos and by doing so they want to point out the African History.
Marie-Guillemine Benoist
This painting has appeared several times in the video and also the last point of it. The painting has significant importance for two reasons – first it is a painting of a black woman and second, it was painted by a woman.
It is the first time that a black woman is not painted as a slave or in a downtrodden position.
As the museum covers 650,000-square-feet and has more than 35,000 artworks, it is very difficult to visit the museum and have a go on everything. Therefore the instructions available on the website of the museum are very useful if you are planning for the museum visit. However, there is no information regarding how much the Carters paid for filming in the Louvre.
