All things must come to an end– even the good ones. And the same can be said for people’s favorite television shows.
Here are some of the popular series which final seasons have been announced. Read on to find out if your fave is one of the shows about to be cut.
Second ‘Will & Grace’ Farewell
Fans of the hilarious duo are bound to say goodbye once again to the sitcom ‘Will & Grace’. NBC just confirmed last week that the show’s upcoming season, which will be aired in 2020, will also be its last. Long-time watchers of the show may get deja vu from this announcement given that the show was first ‘ended’ in 2006 only to be resurrected again in 2017.
While the news may be sad, the latest edition of ‘Will & Grace’ had a good run and even racked up Emmy nominations just like its first eight seasons.
‘Modern Family’s Swan Song
Another comedy show television audiences will have to say goodbye to is the ABC hit series ‘Modern Family’ as its upcoming 11th season will also be its last one.
The show began airing in 2009 and has eventually become an ‘anchor’ in the network’s primetime schedule. For the unfamiliar, the series revolves around the antics of an extended family.
Like ‘Will & Grace’, ‘Modern Family’ is also quite the critical darling having garnered five consecutive Best Comedy Series awards from the prestigious Emmy Awards. However, it’s also worth noting that the show’s viewership has reportedly declined during its recent season.
The End of ‘Criminal Minds’
Just right after the end of its 14th season, the long-running crime drama’s 15th season was announced and with this comes the news that that would also be its end. As showrunner, Erica Messer, revealed, the show’s final season would feature a more serialized kind of storytelling and would include personal stories that may come as a surprise to viewers.
‘Empire’’s Last Stand
Amidst the uncertainties of series actor Jussie Smollett‘s fate, ‘Empire’ will wrap up with its sixth season. The show stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard as a couple who co-head a music empire.
Smollett’s possible return to appear on the show is still uncertain though. It can be remembered that the 37-year-old actor has been embroiled in a highly controversial legal battle after he was accused of staging a supposedly racially -driven attack on himself earlier this year.
‘Silicon Valley’ Reaches A Conclusion
HBO’s comedy show about a group of brainy friends working in the titular technology and innovation hotspot has also announced its sixth and final season.
Saying how the HBO series has been a career highlight for them and that they’ll miss it desperately, show producers Alec Berg and Mike Judge still believe that the upcoming season will be a fitting end to their work.
