Parents today often complain that their kids do not watch the kind of films they should be watching! Instead of complaining, we should make them watch what we watched and help them understand what good wholesome movies are all about. Help them explore movies that entertain and teach them life lessons at the same time too.
If Frozen and their like fixate your kids, don’t worry, we have got you covered. These five films will offer you entertainment and more!
It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World!
If a classic comedy there ever was, this is it. Spencer Tracy, Ethel Merman, Sid Caesar, and Micky Rooney cooks up this crazy plot. A just-released convict gets into an accident while driving up to get to the fortune he buried. He shares the secret location to some of the people he meets on the way and what follows is mad mayhem. Each one tries to outwit the other to get their first and lay his claim over the loot. This 1963 film still packs a punch, no wonder it enjoyed a great run at the Oscars. And kids love it for sure. You can see them guffawing away loud, holding their sides with unmitigated laughter! Get your popcorn. This will make your weekend! Watch it and thank us later!
Bringing Up Baby
Kids love comedies the most. And this 1938 classic comedy can have them laughing out loud over the protagonist’s funny antics. Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grants add many zany moments to this funny movie. It throws in a pet leopard, a confused paleontologist, and a smitten heiress. It’s downright silly and fast-paced, why kids cannot have enough of it.
Singin’ in the Rain
This classic film is a must-watch film for every father-daughter duo. The plot is funny, and it is so relatable, the soundtrack is memorable, and the lyrics have a universal ring to it. Songs like ‘Good Morning‘ can help you get over a bad morning! If you know what we mean, your kids will love it for sure and hum with you when you are in the mood for some song and dance routine!
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The very thought of visiting a chocolate factory can ignite all your choco-induced cravings. Well, this is a movie that can entice both parents and kids in equal measure. We bet everyone would love to be in the shoes of Charlie and look around in wonderment at candy lands and chocolate rivers.
We wonder how exactly it feels to live in a place where chocolate is free-flowing, abundant, and right next to you when you want it! Watch it with your kids, revisit your childhood, and yes, there is a 2005 version of it, but we prefer the classic version any day!
Mary Poppins
We don’t know what works for Mary Poppins, whether it is the unforgettable music or the thought of a flying Nanny with a magic umbrella. Mary Poppins is one film that can get kids and parents dancing to its infectious tunes in no time.
It may even make your kids finish up their chores in record time and have fun while doing it! Too much to ask for? But there is no harm in dreaming, is there. This is the kind of film that made tea parties fashionable!
The Sound of Music
The film draws inspiration from the real story of the Von Trapp Family. And this film and its music will continue to captivate children and adults alike with its timelessness. It brings many things on board, such as love, family, and hope, making it to an all-time favorite watch. Such is our love for the movie that we sing the song,’ Raindrops and roses,’ each time lightening and thunder are flashing across the sky or sing ‘doe a dear,’ each time we feel down in the dumps.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
This 1989 film has all the ingredients for a super fun movie. It revolves around a scientist father who accidentally downsizes his kids with a machine. The film then explores the children’s journey to get back to the normal size. It is a super fun movie to watch because it has lots of twists and turns in place and incites the children’s imagination. It leaves you wondering what if it happens to you!
